YOUR DESTINATION, IN CONTEXT
Mumbai has a published GLD City Score of 66/100, in the Medium range.
Mumbai’s scale, film culture and coastal geography make it one of India’s defining urban destinations. Its LGBTQ+ story includes a visible community movement, but the lived experience remains shaped by India’s wider legal and social context as well as the city’s sharp contrasts.

India’s official tourism platform presents Mumbai through its heritage, markets, waterfront, arts, food and nightlife rather than one compact centre. South Mumbai offers many landmark sights, while other districts reveal different cultural and contemporary sides of the metropolis. This diversity rewards neighbourhood-based planning and careful allowance for travel time.
