Hillcrest is San Diego’s principal LGBTQ+ neighborhood, with restaurants, shops and a concentration of LGBTQ-owned businesses. It borders Balboa Park, making it a useful base for combining neighborhood time with museums and gardens. For a connection beyond nightlife, explore the San Diego LGBT Community Center’s programmes and check its current calendar before visiting.

Programmes vary by edition, so consult the organiser before planning around an event. Outside the neighborhood, Black’s Beach is a popular option for LGBTQ+ beachgoers, but the city warns that access is difficult because of steep cliffs and unimproved trails; check its beach guidance before going.
