Meet at the red façade

In a neighbourhood full of possible meeting points, the Cox gives you an easy one: its red façade on Rue des Archives. Opened in December 1995, this gay bar has become one of the Marais’s established addresses. For a Paris stay, we’d put it between a day spent exploring the neighbourhood and a later night out, with time for a drink before deciding where to go next.

Give the music a place in your plans

DJs and special nights are part of the Cox’s character. Look through the programme before you visit if music is what draws you out, or make it a first stop with friends after a walk through the surrounding streets. Its history and visible presence in the neighbourhood are good reasons to include it in a first exploration of gay Paris.
